Love never stops, not even during lockdown, but it gets so much harder. These characters are lonely or lack a moment of privacy. Some are brave and some resigned, they’ve run away or stayed put, and some experience hallucinations – or do they? In a number of scenes we meet people from all walks of life: lovers, patients and doctors, those who call a helpline just to have someone to talk to, and those who quietly get on with their incredibly difficult lives. A young woman talks to her car, an old woman almost cries when her budgie kisses her on the cheek. Actors miss the limelight, but still have each other.

Love in the Time of Lockdown sold out at the 2021 Brighton Fringe and carried on to sell out shows at the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe.

Previous praise

“This is a well written, staged and acted show that uses humour very creatively, both to expose the absurd events that have happened to which we can all relate and to point out the damage (physical and mental) resulting from the pandemic.  Thought provoking and entertaining, this is a piece of theatre that has much to recommend it”

Battle: a Modern Mystery Play,

with two new songs by Andrew Trunkfield

Saturday June 4, 2022 at 7:30 PM and Sunday June 5th at 3pm – in Battle near Hastings · 1 Abbey Way (Marquee), Battle, TN33 0XD.

Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.

The year is 1066, William fights Harry! How do mothers, queens, wives and daughters cope? They gather their skirts and they soldier on. Telling stories in plays and songs, cooking, praying, working, gazing at Halley’s Comet in awe.

Old Father Time takes us through the action as three women and one man tell the stories of what happened before and after the many battles between quite a few Williams and Harrys. Sometimes they are the kings of 1066, sometimes just two men disagreeing, and sometimes they are the sons of Princess Diana. But it’s mostly the women looking at their situation, how will they cope when the men and the boys are gone? “Who foots the bill but us women and our hungry children if we can not stop this feud between Harry and William?“ We also meet magical women, the Fates who see everything the mortals do from a much loftier point of view, and three naughty witches who have their own nasty agenda, sending a hapless modern archer into the shocking past.

Prepare to be sad and jolly, to sing along with the wives of the butcher and the baker, bring your tissues for when it all gets too much, and join us for this modern mystery play at the Jubilee Weekend.
